KPCC/ AAJA Online News Media Training Fellowship/ Deadline Aug. 1

We welcome you to apply to the KPCC/ AAJA-LA Online News Media Training Fellowship.  Applications are due by August 1.  The fellowship is for college graduates and mid-career professional interested in pursuing a career on an online news team.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:  KPCC and AAJA-LA are partnering to help a gifted AAJA member gather skills that can be put to use in an online news environment.  The Chapter is looking for someone with solid reporting and writing experience in a fast-paced news environment.  The candidate does not need to have digital experience but they should have a superlative eagerness to learn in a challenging newsroom environment and have a high degree of comfort with asking lots of questions and learning and doing at the same time.  They will be considered an integral part of KPCC’s online news team, helping produce stories for the web, work on multi-media packages and more.

Valid driver’s license and vehicle are required.

Ideally this person would commit to a 9-6 M-F schedule for 12 weeks.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be an AAJA member.

Applicants should have five years of reporting and writing experience in a fast-paced news environment, but superb candidates with three or more years of experience will be considered.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Five great work samples and an explanation of why this person wants to work in the digital space and resume.

The four best candidate will be sent to KPCC for final selection.

The Chapter will offer the selected candidate a stipend.
