It’s a new year but the big California story hasn’t changed…the state’s growing budget deficit. It’s a complicated issue, so get yourself a drink and get your questions answered at the Society of Professional Journalists’ first mixer of the year on Monday, January 19.

Our guest will be UCLA management and public policy professor Daniel J. B. Mitchell, who comments regularly on state budget issues and has written extensively about California’s boom-and-bust cycles.
