METPRO: The Chicago Tribune is accepting applications for Metpro, a salaried newsroom training program for high-potential, highly motivated aspiring journalists with diverse backgrounds or life experiences.
The candidate selected will receive six months of training at the Chicago Tribune starting in the fall. He/she will learn from experienced journalists about writing, interviewing, researching and covering beats while writing articles for the Chicago Tribune.
This will be followed by 18 months in a resident reporter position. Mentoring and periodic evaluations will continue throughout the program.
After successful completion of the training, it is expected that this reporter’s performance will result in a staff position being offered. Applicants should be beginning journalists, preferably with a college degree, and legally eligible to work in the United States. Application instructions are available at www.metpronews.com/.
