Oscars Not So White? Media responsibility in its POC coverage
We’re excited to announce our first event of the year: A conversation about diversity in Hollywood this Friday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the L.A. Times building downtown (community room, 145 S. Spring St). We’ll provide a bartender and the drinks – just bring yourself.
With awards season in full swing, it’s perfect timing to talk about diversity in Hollywood and how we cover it. Is #oscarsnotsowhite still too white? How does the media shape the conversation about POC artists, films and content? What does a Hollywood that represents America’s diversity look like? Our speakers list includes journalists and entertainment industry insiders, from L.A. Times reporter Tre’vell Anderson to actor James Kyson. We’ll have the latest updates in our Facebook event.
