LA-18/ ABC7 Diversity in Media Training Fellowship

AAJA-LOS ANGELES DIVERSITY IN MEDIA TRAINING FELLOWSHIP
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: 

In an effort to increase ethnic and cultural understanding and to encourage Asian American and Pacific Islander community news coverage, AAJA will offer a fellowship to a gifted undergraduate, or graduate student, to work for both an ethnic media outlet and a mainstream broadcast television station under the

“AAJA-Los Angeles Diversity in Media Training Fellowship.”

The selected broadcast student will spend 10 weeks working at LA-18 for Kababayan LA, the nation’s first locally produced daily show specifically for and about the burgeoning Filipino American community and largest Asian sub-group in Southern California with a population of over half a million. After successfully completing 10 weeks, the selected candidate will spend the remainder of the internship with ABC7, the most watched television station in Southern California and West Cost flagship of the ABC television network.

Additionally, the student will be asked to assist in the production of one piece on the Filipino community while at LA-18.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicant must be an AAJA member
College or Graduate Students only

PROGRAM POINTS:
The internship will last for five months.
AAJA-LA will offer a stipend of $4,000 to be distributed in two equal payments.

Intern will have to be available from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the LA-18 portion of the internship.
