The Los Angeles Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association

Editorial Internships Openings At KoreAm Journal

KoreAm Journal is an award-winning monthly magazine dedicated to the Korean American experience. We cover news, politics, lifestyle, sports, and culture.

We are looking for editorial interns to assist the staff in research, reporting, writing, editing, and production. Our interns are mainly expected to report, write, and assist in research. They also attend meetings, pitch story ideas, and contribute blog postings for our website. They always complete the program with a set of their own clips. Some interns have written cover stories and have received awards for their work.

KoreAm is one of the last remaining Asian American magazines. The magazine has featured prominent Korean Americans, including actor John Cho, gay rights Iraq war veteran Lt. Dan Choi, and comedian Margaret Cho. Topical cover topics have included the election of Barack Obama and North Korea. The magazine is written entirely in English.

We are looking for anyone with an interest and experience in magazine journalism and Korean/Asian American issues. Applicants with actual reporting and writing experience preferred. Proficiency or fluency in Korean preferred but definitely not required. We are based in the Los Angeles area. You will need a car and your own laptop. Typical schedule: 16 to 40 hours (interns choose) a week during normal working hours, Monday to Friday.

Our website is currently out of commission due to a re-design but for more information, visit us at: http://www.facebook.com/koreamjournal
