2007 Chapter of the Year

AAJA-Los Angeles was given the highest award for a chapter: Chapter of the Year.

The honor was announced at the 2007 AAJA national convention held in Miami, Fla. last summer.

In introducing the award, AAJA-LA Chapter Board Member and KABC Anchor David Ono highlighted some of the chapter’s achievements:

* One of the largest chapters of AAJA
* Board members hail from six different counties and some drive as far as two hours to have a meeting
* Hosted the first mixer in the area with the local chapters of SPJ, NABJ, NLGJA, RTNDA and AFTRA w/ more than 200 people
* Donated $65,000 since the inception of the National Endowment Drive

The Los Angeles chapter holds a host of activities throughout the year, including professional networking events, workshops, seminars, student outreach and critiques, scholarships, fellowships, stipends and its signature annual fundraiser, Trivia Bowl.
